The ‘Establishment and Management of Transport Corridors’ Training of “Strengthening Intermodal Transport Services in Turkish Railway Sector (U-IMT)”, one of the important projects of SOPT and co-financed by the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye, of which the Strategy Development Directorate of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure is the end recipient authority, was provided by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Tanyaş.
In the training held in Ankara on 18th and 19th of July 2024, representatives from the project’s stakeholders; the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Strategy Development Directorate and other relevant units of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, as well as the Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD), TCDD Taşımacılık A.Ş., the Ministry of Trade; Directorate General of International Trade in Services; Department of Logistics and Transportation Services, and Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change; Directorate General of Spatial Planning.
Over two days, the training covered fundamental concepts of transportation corridors. Sessions included international corridors, political factors, trade analysis, route selection, planning and governance, financial and performance management, promotion, ease of trade, capacity development, and sustainability. The training was interactive, adapting a Q&A format throughout the sessions.
