The ‘Sustainable Finance and Green Bonds for Railways Sector’ Training of “Strengthening Intermodal Transport Services in Turkish Railway Sector (U-IMT)” Project, one of the important projects of SOPT and co-financed by the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye, of which the Strategy Development Directorate of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure is the end recipient authority, was provided by Mr. Mehmet Nadir Erhan.
In the training held in Ankara on 22nd and 23rd of May 2024, representatives from the project’s stakeholders; the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Strategy Development Directorate and other relevant units of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, as well as the Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD), TCDD Taşımacılık A.Ş., the Ministry of Trade; Directorate General of International Trade in Services, Ministry of Treasury and Finance; Department of Transport, Communications and Industrial Sectors, Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change; Directorate General of European Union and Foreign Relations and Presidency Strategy and Budget representatives attended.
Structured as two sessions for two days, fundamental concepts of sustainable finance were presented with an emphasis on railways and detailed lessons were given about green bonds. The training was put into practice in the form of Q&A and was interactive.
