The Component 1 Assessment of Current Situation Workshop of the “Strengthening Intermodal Transport Services in the Turkish Railway Sector” (U-IMT), co-financed by the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye, of which the Strategy Development Directorate of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure is the end recipient authority and Directorate General for European Union and Foreign Relations is the contracting authority, was held with the participation of the Head of Strategy Development Directorate Dr. Yunus Emre AYÖZEN.
On 26 July 2023 in Ankara, the workshop was attended by the stakeholders of the project, namely Directorate General for Infrastructure Investments, Directorate General for Transport Services Regulation and other related units of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure beside State Railways of the Republic of Türkiye (TCDD), TCDD Tasimacilik A.S. and representatives of private freight forwarders and non-governmental organisations interested in multimodal transport activities in Türkiye.
In the first session of the workshop, which started with the speech of Dr. Yunus Emre AYÖZEN, the Head of the Strategy Development Directorate, the details of the completed first component report of the U-IMT Project, the findings obtained on the current situation of the intermodal sector and the comments and opinions of the stakeholders on the report were discussed. In the second session in the afternoon, the progress made in the second component and the next steps to be taken were presented and the views of the participants were taken.
